shake, rattle and roll

Shake Rattle And Roll by Bill Haley & His Comets on Grooveshark

it's only tuesday night. this is what my head feels like on the inside and apparently looks like on the outside. i've got so much to get done this week, but all i want to do is dance.

new new new

i love new years. it might be tied with halloween as my favorite holiday... and thanksgiving. 4th of july is fun too.

anyway. a new start. yes. we all need that.

i spent the night with a small group of close friends dancing and kissing their dog. i didn't expect to see carson until after midnight due to it being his last night at the restaurant, but he walked in 11:55 - he's that good.

2013 should be full of surprises. i hope this finds you full with hope for the year to come.

breathing, focusing, etc.

our poor, tiny apartment.

we've been here for almost 2 months now, and we are no where near settled. the walls are still empty. the fridge mostly consists of beer, milk and cheese.

we've been busy. october is packed with projects and events and volunteering.

it is decided 2012 was/is our year to give. last years lessons are fueling me, keeping me strong when i'm exhausted and second guessing myself.

this weekend is another big one:
friday, is our big fundraiser, lift the mask.
saturday morning i drive up to the farm to snap photos for their big festival coming up.
saturday afternoon i drive back to madison to play with croaker at the gypsy carnival.
sunday, i'll help the folks of good style clean up their old space as they move into their new home. and croaker practice.

this list is more of a reminder to myself. will someone make sure i'm doing what i'm suppose to be doing at the right time? thank you.

and thank you for your comments and emails of support about max. it means the world, really.

August 22, 2012

i almost forgot how to blog

phew.
what a whirlwind we've been living in.

august is one of my favorite months, sandwiched in between two of my favorite seasons, there's usually lots of changes and new beginnings.

early august took us back home to celebrate a dear friend's wedding and help my father move out of his home and out into the middle of nowhere. (i'm excited to camp out there)

last week was the anniversary week, so we spent it moving to our own place, carson starting a new job, throwing one last house concert at the anna lee and playing a show at a block party. (we are crazy)

summer never leaves quietly ---
i'm okay with that.

art (that) works

carson and i have been looking at apartments and to be in the area of the city we want, we're going to have to get a lot smaller space to afford it. it's probably for the best, it will be good to cut back and keep the things we really need. so now i'm looking into creative and green ways we can store our junk. stella bleu designs makes these incredible pipe shelves and garment racks and i am totally in love.

amazing right? and and katie looks adorable as she is talented.

[a look inside] where you lay your head

i'm sure you've spent an afternoon, or many, wandering through the homes on the photography site, the selby. i love this sort of photo story telling - to see creative people in their homes and studios is an adventure to say the least.
so, being selby inspired, i spent some time last weekend snapping photos of my own home, the anna lee. we'll call this part one, since this is all about the outside grounds of my home.

my home, the anna lee, has evolved into something truly remarkable.
we currently hold house concerts and art events in our living rooms. (next month the whole house will shut down for a documentary and art exhibit, more on that soon)

i am honored to call this place home and the people that live there with me, family.
to read more about the anna lee and projects we have going on you can visit the links below.
we'd love to have you.

happy inside look thursday,
stephanie

ps oh and if anyone would like to book me for a photo session of their home or studio,
i'd love that. that'd be a blast.

saturday morning

saturday morning, everything is going right. everything is cool.
you may find yourself asking (yourself): "am i the best cupcake maker in all the land? "
and today. today you just may be. look out martha, i even dyed that frosting myself.
well...

it's good to be humbled.

* note, red velvet cake batter may look like a big bowl of chunky blood at first. keep mixing, a lot. it's a fickle batter. it's worth it.
