i love new years. it might be tied with halloween as my favorite holiday... and thanksgiving. 4th of july is fun too.
anyway. a new start. yes. we all need that.
i spent the night with a small group of close friends dancing and kissing their dog. i didn't expect to see carson until after midnight due to it being his last night at the restaurant, but he walked in 11:55 - he's that good.
2013 should be full of surprises.
i hope this finds you full with hope for the year to come.
we sisters of mountain follows sea are having a pretty big year. and we are honored you're part of it. more details to come.
lots of love to you all,
samantha and stephanie
yesterday carson called asking me to come over and help him with a video project. this came as quite a surprise because we had just finished taping a rather important project the previous day.
i grabbed my camera and walked on over. carson was extremely excited and just said "start the camera and let me handle the rest."
what came out of it was this video. i was bawling as soon as i saw the names of dan and chelsea, two of carson's best friends from montana whom we haven't seen in quite some time, not to mention their new baby daughter.
i forget how much i/we have. this summer has been such a transitional period, both of us decided it was time to take our dreams a little more seriously and we decided it was time to start saying goodbye to jobs we both loved. emotional roller coaster doesn't even begin to cover it... then he goes and makes something like this.
carson had recorded "murder in the city" (one of our favorite avett brothers tunes) a while ago and i always forget how much i love his version. we made this video in one take.
if you'd like to follow our musical adventures, check out our little blog.
i hope you are in love with your own life, or fall back in with it soon.
goodnight,
stephanie
i think my weekend after glow is just starting to fade. i get to hold on to mine a little longer since carson's only day off is tuesday, so that sort of becomes our day to spend "weekending" together.
i don't know why i don't get to the farmers market more often, but now i've gone two weekends in a row and i'm hooked. i'm planning on going again saturday to get some herbs for the kitchen.
ellyn and i stumbled upon some amazing food, music and jewelery by a local girl named angela. she owns a beautiful business called "pangea handmade". her work is vintage inspired and her color scheme is to die for. (and i never say that). just look at those rings. once i have some extra bones i'm going to pick up some earrings from her. oh and if that wasn't enough, her blog is incredibly lovely as well.
saturday night was spent dancing at a house party equipped with laser lights, tv's playing throughout the house (total recall and the royal wedding were in two different bathrooms) and free gift bags. i'm going to go bask in the glow a little bit longer. i hope your weekend bliss is still finding you - or maybe you're starting next weekend already?
hopefully,
stephanie
to celebrate our four year anniversary (i know!) we played at an open mic at the johnson public house. it was quite lovely actually. we had beer, played scrabble. played four of our little numbers. we were blown away by daniel and the lion - those guys host the open mic.
these were snapped by the talented ellyn. i'm getting more and more excited for the house show with our friends mages on saturday!
alright, i'm a huuuuge surf rock/pop fan. i love it. beach boys, the drums, la sera...
i think i'm a west coast girl at heart. and call me crazy, but when i listen to vampire weekend, i also pick up vibes of paul simon. two fixes in one.
check out best coast's new video. wow! drew barrymore's handy work. and look at that cast!
August 22, 2011
life is moving so fast - it's all good but it's fast.
things to do this week:
- ditch my old car, mojo may
- move
- find health insurance
- plan a house concert
- thank a lot of great people for supporting me
this is the perfect song to have blaring through the car
stereo, windows down,
dirty feet on the dash.
it reminds me of when carson and i first met and we'd take
long drives together;
on country roads outside of eau claire.
i was looking through april's photos over the weekend and i was just baffled by everything that happened this month.
+ first solo art gallery
+ first sparrow and the sky performance (i sang in front of people, what!?)
+ my first tattoo (from my brother!)
+ live music (trampled by turtles in milwaukee!)
+ playing music
+ recording music
+ lots of good family time
+ lots of good friend time
+ lots of good food
+ lots of cupcakes and sweet potato fries
+ the first bike rides of the year!
+ finding a beautiful apartment to live in
i am blessed, truly. let's hope may continues in this fashion, huh?
